Edwards To Speak At Distinguished Lecture Series Sept. 15, 2004 - A leading presidential scholar will make the case for abolishing the Elec toral College on Sept. 21 at Texas A&M University. “The Electoral College is a gross violation of the cherished value of political equality," says George C. Ed wards III, who holds the rank of distin guished professor of political science at Texas A&M and is the inaugural speaker of the 2004-05 University Distinguished Lecture Series. Edwards, an internationally rec ognized authority on the presidency, will speak at 7:30 p.m. at the Annen- berg Presidential Conference Center adjacent to the George Bush School of Government and Public Service. His presentation, titled “Faulty Premises: the Flawed Founda tions of the Electoral College," will counter the commonly held perception that the U.S. Supreme Court decided the 2000 presiden tial election, Edwards said. Campus briefs are com piled by Texas A&M's Office of Public Relations. ORDE OFjOME - s r-' c we asked a a stay that her sente s her guilty of abet monttMtffi must semefiv e arrest.
