Loupot’s manager LinnAnn Long said that
from her experiences talking with individuals
in the military, she has found that their free
time is very important.
“I figured that if this would make Charles feel
a little better or more connected to school here,
donating the textbook was definitely something
minimal we could do for someone so dedicated
to serving our country,” Long said.
Long said giving back to the community is
part of Loupot’s overall business practice.
“Whether it be in community involvement or
with A&M, usually we’r .w than willing to
make a donation,” Long .
Marti Holland told Long the book would find
its way back to Loupot’s and said she would
ask her son to return it to the bookstore when
he arrives home.
“I understand that things happen and if it doesn’t
work out, that’s OK,” Long said. “But 1 would be
really happy to meet him.”
Hometown friend and a junior marketing ma
jor Michael Danielson said Holland is a funny
person and has shared his sense of humor with
at least one Texas A&M class.
“As a joke, he once walked into a PSYC 107
class and started teaching calculus until the
teacher came in and kicked him out,” Daniel
son said. “1 think he had a friend videotape the
whole thing.”
Danielson and Holland became friends at a
church youth group in Plano.
“He’s a great guy who really lives his life
for the Lord,” Danielson said. “He’s definite
ly a service-oriented person who likes to live
for others.”
Charles Holland is scheduled to return from
Iraq this spring and to participate in a co-op
with defense and aerospace systems supplier
Raytheon before resuming classes at A&M in
the fall. Due to a limit on the number of phone
calls he can make, Charles Holland is presently
unable for comment while he serves in Iraq.
