Bart’s character is a short stone’s throw away from an over-the-top stereotype and the majority
scripted puns from humorist screenwriter Paul Rudnick (“In & Out”) involve topical wit at I
“Where do you work?” Joanna asks one husband. “AOL,” he replies. “No wonder
slow,” she says.
The film fails to dive much deeper. Overall, the movie makes a weak attempt to embodyl
nist underlings of Levin’s novel and chooses to focus on overcoming gender barriers ralhertl
recently popularized struggles between man and machine, but even this is lost in Rudnick'sin
on incorporating liberalized relationships between openly gay men.
As a story, the movie has simply lost its sense of identity. Nothing is too frightening or iwR
A handful of smile-worthy scenes surrounding the eccentric Claire Wellington (Glenn Close) andB'
into an eerily close sense of science catching up with fiction allow the film to stand as tolerable||
for any individual suckered into watching.
