The No. 9 Texas A&M baseball team looks
to rebound from Sunday’s 14-5 loss to Texas
Tech as it travels to Round Rock, Texas, to
face Texas State University at 7 p.m. Tuesday
at Dell Diamond.
The Aggies (23-6) moved up in the polls one
spot despite dropping two of their four games
last week.
Texas State (15-2) is coming off a three-
game sweep of Southland Conference rival
McNeese State in Lake Charles, La. The
sweep brought the Bobcats win streak to
four games as they enter the game with
A&M.
Texas State, formerly Southwest Texas State
University, will start senior pitcher Paul
Schappert on the mound. Schappert is 2-4 on
the year with a 7.09 earned run average. In 33
innings of work, Schappert has given up 55 hits
and 30 runs and batters are hitting .390 off him.
A&M will counter with sophomore right-
handed pitcher Robert Ray. Ray dropped out
of the weekend rotation two weeks ago before
the conference-opening series with Baylor
University. He is 1-1 on the season with a 6.38
ERA. Ray has also struck out 27 batters in
only 24 innings pitched.
The Aggies will return to College Station
Wednesday to take on the University of Texas-
San Antonio at Olsen Field in a make-up
game from a rainout Feb. 24.
