THE BATTAll
Weatherman
Continued from page 3
“People always told me to do something I’m
passionate about,” said Isom, a senior meteorology
major. ‘Tve wanted to do this since day one, and
I’m loving every minute of it.”
Isom cites his ability to reach people and help
them, while constantly studying something he loves
as one of his favorite parts of the job.
“I enjoy sharing my passion with my audience,
to be able to connect with them and help them,”
Isom said.
The internship at KBTX has given him more
than just experience going live and predicting the
weather, it has given him a drive for success that
can't be shaken.
“It's given me a perspective of what’s its like at
the bottom," he said. “I want to reach my other
goals; I want to be better.”
Isom is determined to never stop striving for the
best and to deliver weather forecasts accurately and
enthusiastically.
“The weather affects everyone who is watch
ing,” he said. “That is powerful.”
Walter, who earned his bachelor’s degree in
physics from Thomas More College in Kentucky,
agrees that weather is something that involves
everyone and said it has also had a major impact on
his life.
“Thunderstorms always took me out to the
porch,” he said. “It’s so unpredictable and power
ful. It’s unstoppable.”
As one of the coordinators of the on-campus
storm-chasing club, Texas A&M Mobile Severe
Storms Data Acquisition, a division of TAM-
SCAMS, Walter has seen his fair share of severe
weather and considers it one of the mostinte
parts of his field.
“I would enjoy the chance to be on-air
severe weather to help people out in areal
way," Walter, a graduate student in atmosphei
ence said.
But every time he steps in front of the
Walter seizes the opportunity to bring smiles
faces of his viewers.
“My presence on the air is one waytoj

might have a good day.”
