If you were a trustworthy, loyal and
dedicated Corps member and later
became a judge, wouldn’t you excuse
yourself from any case involving the
Parson’s Mounted Cavalry?
Of course you would.
Unless you were Judge Rick Davis.
Other independent observations about
Judge Rick Davis you may find interesting:
The Commission was "especially appalled at the highly inappropriate
use by Judge Davis of the term 'Auschwitz camp guard' in
connection with [a young female prosecutor]."
Judicial Conduct Commission
“Judge Davis cast public discredit on the judiciary and reasonable doubt on
his capacity to fairly judge future criminal cases brought before his court... "
Judicial Conduct Commission
Judge Davis failed "to live up to the ethical standards of
conduct required of a judge. "

Walkers enjoy a bright January day at Idle Hour park in Phoenix City, Ga. Some of the best spots to walk are
tracks and fitness trails.

KRT CAMPUS
The next time someone tells
you to "take a hike." do it.
Doctors says the cardiovas
cular workout is great for the
heart, fitness trainers say it’s a
good way to lose that paunch,
and physical therapists say it
strengthens the back.
If you don’t want to drive
somewhere first, you can walk
around your subdivision keep
ing tabs on your neighbors.
"The Joneses really should
keep those blinds drawn: the
Smiths need to do something
about those hedges."
If the weather's not to your
liking, you can walk at the mall.
You pick up the pace through
the food court, you slow down at
Victoria's Secret.
Of course, you can walk
around the office at work. A
boss' top concern is always the
employees' health.
Then there's the treadmill,
but don't we spend enough of
our time getting nowhere?
The best spots to walk are
tracks and fitness trails.
"Most of what I see in
January and February are New
Year's resolutions," says Bill
Jones, a physical therapist at
River City Physical Therapy in
Columbus, Ga. "It's people try
ing to get in shape and wanting
to get it done quickly. It's always
better to start off doing too little
than doing too much. If not, you
pay for it later."
Especially, he said, if you
haven’t been physically active in
a while.
"Just go out your front door
and walk for a few minutes," he
said. "See how it feels. Head
back in if there's any problem."
As for where you walk. Jones
says, "The best surface in the
beginning is a level one. Save
the hills for later. It's best to
walk around a circular track
because the other way, if you
walk a mile in one distance and
are too tired to do the distance
back, you're stuck. Also, walk at
a slow, steady pace and build up
to a quicker one."
Other advice from Jones
includes getting comfortable
well-cushioned shoes, stretch
ing, dressing properly for the
weather and taking along a
water bottle.
Another good tip is to walk
with a friend, not only for safety
but to make the experience!
pleasurable. And trying new
can help you kick boredom.
Want to know how im
calories you bum while yoti
walking? Of course you!
Here's how many, based onto
fast you walk.
—3.0 miles/hour (iU-rm
mile): Burns .027 calonti
pound/minute.
—3.5 miles/hour (17 mini
mile): Burns .033 cate
pound/minute.
—4.0 miles/hour (15 min®
mile): Burns .042 cate
pound/minute.
—4.5 miles/hour (13 mini
mile): Burns .047 calorie
pound/minute.
Take the number of d(
ries/pound/minute you bum
multiply it by your weighti
then by the number of mi
you walk.
For example, if you w
150 pounds and walk a 3
minute mile for 60 minutes,yi
multiply 150 by .027,then®
tiple the result (4.5) by 60.'
burn 270 calories.

Texas gaming supplier givin
millions to Oklahoma casino
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A Texas gaming
machine supplier has given more than $50 million to
help Oklahoma tribes finance casino expansions.
Multimedia Games Inc., a supplier of more
than 5,000 gaming machines to 28 American
Indian tribes in Oklahoma, has given $50.3 mil
lion to Oklahoma tribes to help with construction
costs of new casinos.
The arrangement will increase Multimedia
Games’ dependence on the Oklahoma tribal gam
bling industry, The Oklahoman reported in
Sunday's editions.
Its financing method is similar to a formula
used with the Chickasaw Nation, which built the
WinStar casino last year along Interstate 35n
the Texas state line.
Multimedia officials refused to disclosewli
tribes they were working with or where the
casinos would be built, but tribal gamingoffio
confirmed the gaming suppliers’ role in new a
no construction.
Multimedia advanced an undisclosed
of money for construction, and in return
Chickasaw Nation allotted 80 percent of thefl
no's gaming space to Multimedia machines.
As a result, the Austin, Texas-based com
owns about 800 of that casino’s 1,000 mad
and receives an undisclosed percentage of re*
from them.
