THE BATTALl(j JATION
goes for the cut-off T-shirts that college men seem to
cherish from their glory days on the high school
football team, where they were all —of course —
the best player on the team. Tighter is not better, and
as for the non-makeshift tank tops, the ones that
males actually go out and buy, burning them may be
the best option. Just as a fannypack is never accept
able, neither is a male in a tank top.
A better option would be the dri-fit clothing
that many companies focused on athletic apparel
are carrying. With dri-fit, the ladies will still see
just enough of your physique, and you willbeil
to see your muscles in order to properly exec,
your training movements. If you cannot paru
your skimpy, tight tank top and must have a
view of your muscles at all times, please have
decency to wait until you are behind the ck
doors of your home.
Ultimately, fashion — even Rec fashion -
the eye of the beholder. Taking that little bit of
time to put energy into what you wear while w
ing out will affect how you feel, thus impacting
success of your workout plan. What one sov ,
will reap, so enjoy the benefits of hard wotkirB
weight room. Just do it in ankle socks, and J
their mid-calf length brothers in the drawer.

likes to wear a headband to
keep her hair out of her eyes
and to add an accessory to her
workout attire, but cannot han
dle it when guys with longer
hair do the same.
“I do not know what the deal
is with all these guys with slight
ly longer hair wearing bandanas
tied around their heads,” she said.
“I mean, is that honestly neces
sary at all?”
For other Rec-goers, attire
does not matter in the least, and
they go with one purpose: to get
in, bum calories and get out.
Kendall Hodges, a sophomore
recreation, park and tourism sci
ences major, said she just looks
for a T-shirt and a pair of shorts
and does not spend a lot of time
primping.
“I feel like at A&M, no one
really cares what you look like.”
Hodges said. “We are all just
pretty laid back.”
She works up a sweat at the
climbing wall in the Rec center, a
section that seems to have a style
of its own.
“Everyone at the rock wall is
super chill,” Hodges said. “If you
come in a T-shirt and longer
shorts or pants, you will be ready
to climb.”
As you open up your drawers
and decide what to wear as you
are heading to the Rec, it is
important to consider what activ
ity you will be doing. An outfit
change could efTect how comfort
able you feel when working out.
“If you don’t
want to stand
out, just wear a
maroon T-
shirt ” Graham
said. “There is
no way that
you won’t
blend in.”

PEOPLE IN THE NEWS
Director Alfonso Cuaron
is hooked on Harry Potter
NEW YORK (AP) — Director Alfonso Cuaron
says the moment he read J.K. Rowling’s third
“Harry Potter” book, he was hooked.
“It’s a myth for our times," Cuaron tells
Entertainment Weekly magazine in its Jan. 23
issue. “You read about Fudge and the Ministry of
Magic — that’s Tony Blair! And Guantanamo is
not that different from Azkaban. There are
Dementors there, too.”
Cuaron, director of “Y Tu Mama Tambien," was
hired by Warner Bros, to follow Chris Columbus,
who directed the first two “Harry Potter" films.
When asked how Rowling reacted to some cos
metic changes he’s made to her world, Cuaron
replied: “Really cool. She actually encouraged
me: ‘Please don’t be literal.’ At the same time, we
wrote a scene where there was this organ, and
tiny people were jumping on the keyboards. She
said, ‘Nope, no tiny people at Hogwarts.”’
“Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" will
open June 4.
