Continued from page 1A
Price said he realizes this is a long
term goal, but the project can be
very beneficial.
Price has helped A&M receive
contracts and grants from across
the world for the International Ag
Program office.
The organization has “awarded
11 contracts and five grants for
reconstruction work in war-tom
Iraq,” according to the USAID
Web site. Its mission is to improve
the lives of all Iraqis and work to
provide assistance to the people of
Iraq to encourage growth, support
democracy and restore health and
education systems.
Helping Iraq will not only ben
efit USAID, but will indirectly
help the U.S. economy and pro
vide a wealth of information for
A&M to use in research.
Price said key problems that
will be addressed are Iraq’s lack
of marketing and processing facil
ities for its agricultural products.
Universities that will be con
tributing to the project include
Cornell, Washington State,
Virginia Tech, Purdue, University
of California at Davis and all
members in the A&M system.
In Friday’s Page One art/-
cle, “Panel addresses access
