Tinsley’s voice sounds very much like a smooth, slow talking Jimi Hendrix. His voice is nice and easy to listen to, though at times it seems overproduced. The songs, as a whole, are also decent. Nothing on the album is insanely catchy or breathtaking, but nothing is horrible or badly done. Most of the ballads such as “Long Time To Wait,” “What A Time For Love” and “True Reflections,” are delivered with a lot of sincerity and soul. A surprising touch was a cover of Neil Young’s “Cinnamon Girl,” which is well done. The CD is armed with a new copyright pro tection that makes it difficult to copy and bum. When inserted into a computer, it will not play on a regular music player, but opens its own player and will not play otherwise. Tinsley’s album is not bad by any means, but most people probably would not garner any notice had he not been a member of the Dave Matthews Band. Huge fans of DMB might get a kick out of this CD. but non-fanatics might want to leave this one alone. —Daniel Chapman SPORTS A&M Tec to start Music Review V 2. D02 Dierks Bentley Dierks Bentley Capitol Records z ZIZ Music Review V 2.002 Tuesday's Anthem Tuesday's Anthem Independent There should be a parade across campus every time a band from College Station releases a CD. It’s beautiful to know that things are happen ing here. Tuesday’s Anthem’s self-titled debut release should be celebrated because these guys are working hard. They have a long way to go, but have taken a step forward. Of the seven songs on the CD, none of them live up to Tuesday’s Anthem’s full potential. With a sound resembling a reserved U2 or even Pearl Jam, Tuesday’s Anthem has the potential to have a very powerful sound, but the delayed guitar and flying vocals seem stifled and apprehensive. Most of the songs last for about five min utes, which for the most part is a little too long. The lyrics are poetic, but at times the mean ing is difficult to decipher. One example is from the song titled “Dream.” “The water ripples in the night. Flowers blooming out of sight. Such a crime.” It’s difficult to pick out the best songs because there might not be any. However, with a better recording studio, a better mix, a CD that doesn’t change tempos and some work on their songs, Tuesday’s Anthem may make a great CD someday. Whiskey, dance hall guitar picking and little white tank tops are all the necessary ingredient for a classic country album. Dierks Bentley del; ers songs about all these with a few more ingra ents in mind. His first self-titled album has risen to No.4or the Billboard country chart and Bentley haspide, his way to becoming the fastest rising single of! year with “What Was I Thinkin'.” A native of Phoenix, Ariz. his influence is bluegrass, which is definitely heard in a handful of his songs. Bentley wrote or co-wrote 11 songs on the album, showing that he can do more than play and sing. His album starts out with his hit single “What Was I Thinkin'." This great dancingsoti will get the anticipation going when drivinglo the dance hall. Bentley continues with dance hall therapyu other numbers such as “Wish It Would Break, “Forget About You,” a slap-in-the-face song about a guy ready to quit thinking and drinking about a girl, and “I Bought The Shoes,” anumte about a guy who gets left behind by his wife because all he bought her were fancy clothes, cars and jewels when she really just wantedte. A few songs can bring a tear to the late-nk# drinker late in the night such as "Distant Shore," which has religious feel to it. and "WhiskeyI®!' a song about a guy who just drinks everyday toget over a girl. Seeing a reoccurring theme yet? (Here'sa hint: guy chases girl, guy gets girl, girl leaves guy, guy drinks, guy chases girl.) For the Northgaters and tailgaters, Bentley sef a rousing drinking song about the essentials of a good party atmosphere in “Bartenders, Etc...” This hilarious song is the kind people would sing together in the Chicken or out on the back porch after an Aggie Football game. Overall, Dierks Bentley gives good dancing I and drinking tunes with a classic and tradition: country feel. He will be the artist to watch in the development of his new-found country music career. -Katie Toss II ouv with youi Spice Girls CO Decent after a couple spins Worship-wonhy, A classic in the mkmr M Better Ingredients MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY i SATURDAY SUNDAY 1 LARGE 1-TOPPING $C 99 pu/only 2 LARGE 1-TOPPING $12" ■ Ask pu/delivery 1 EX-LARGE | LARGE 2-TOPPING ^-TOPPING & 2 liter dnnk HO. 50 w pu/delivery I | | • pu/delivery PICKYOUR SIDE LARGE 2 TOPPING AND 1 SIDE $|2 78 ■ Amk pu/delivery FAMILY SPECIAL 1 LARGE SPECIALTY 1 LARGE 2 TOPPING *16."
