birdie in playoff
Texas A&M junior golfer
Nicole Melton sank a three-foot
birdie putt on the first playoff
hole to win the individual title at
the Embassy Suites/Tyson
Invitational on Tuesday.
The win gave Melton, who
finished as a runner-up twice
last season, her first individual
victory.
Melton forced a playoff with
Arkansas’ Amanda McCurdy
after shooting a two-over par 73
on the tournament’s final day.
“I’m pretty excited but I’m
also relieved,” Melton said.
“Winning a tournament has
been my goal ever since I
came so close last year.”
