■ in the third quarter),” Franchione said. “Utah
fthanged momentum with that opening drive ...
■hen the fumble. We turned the ball over three
j|imes. That’s really irritating to me.”
Leading 21-13, the Aggies showed some signs
jpf life with their final touchdown drive in the
j fourth quarter. Running back Courtney Lewis
; scored on a 28-yard run and finished the game
jlvith 100 yards on 16 carries.
From there it was all Warfield and the Utes.
Utah pieced together two more scoring drives,
homing mostly on the legs of Warfield. A 45-yard
[ouchdown pass by Elliott with six seconds left set
lip the two-point conversion. The Ute offense was
finally stopped when Buhl stuffed Elliott on the
[wo-point conversion.
“If I had any dark hair it’s all gone, that’s for
fure now,” Franchione said. “That was a hard-
Fought game.”

Defense
Continued from page 1 B
the backfield throughout the game.
“They couldn’t stop us running the ball,” said
Utah coach Urban Meyer.
This version of the Aggie defense — not the
Wrecking Crew because they haven’t earned that
distinction yet, according to A&M defensive coor
dinator Carl Torbush — is young and inexperi
enced, and it shows.
Depending on the severity of Morris’ injury,
the Aggies may be without their most experienced
player in the middle when they travel to
Blacksburg, Va. to take on No. 9 Virginia Tech on
Sept. 18.
With the offensive manpower the Hokies boast,
that could be drastic for the Aggies.
“What we need is experience,” Franchione
said. “The experience we have had not come
through hard knocks - we have two wins. We just
need time.”
