Meanwhile, Donald J. Carty, chairman and chief executive officer, apologized again to work ers for not providing complete details to them sooner about retention bonuses and pension payments. “All of our employees did what was necessary to help avoid bankruptcy and then I stumbled,” Carty said at a news conference called after meetings with union leaders. “It was never my intent to mislead anyone.” “I want to restate we have canceled any and all retention payments,” Carty said. “I have just met with union leaders and fully briefed them about compen sation. I answered all their ques tions.” The Transport Workers Union joined the Association of Professional Flight Attendants in calling for another vote. The Allied Pilots Association said its board would meet in emergency session Tuesday. Travis Wright of Houston was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge Vanessa Gilmore and ordered to pay $5,200 in fines. Gilmore told Wright she sentenced him to three years because he had failed to demon strate he understood the seriousness of his crime and disruption he had caused to federal agencies and private citizens.
