Foran, Jr., a mechanical engineering graduate of 1976, said it was great to be able to share in the tradition with his daughter. “It was awesome because she has worked so hard to get here,” he said. Charles D. Foran, Jr. said they were definitely full after eating 16 scoops of ice cream. “We were waddling out of Swensen’s,” he said. Foran’s sister. Holly Foran Beier, was over seas her senior year and did not get a chance to dunk her ring. Beier said she thought she had missed out on the Aggie ring dunking tradition until her sister called her. “When Carrie called me to do this, it was a good surprise,” she said. Beier said she was a senior when her sister came to A&M as a freshman, and the two were roommates. “It was great to come back to share this with Carrie - to see her come so far,” she said. “It was a lot of fun to be a part of this tra dition with her.” Beier said dunking her ring rds ued from f at Swensen’s with her family was a perfect experience. “I couldn’t have shared it in any better way than with my family,” she said. “It was the most complete way of doing this tradition; it was real fulfilling.” Foran’s brother-in-law, Joshua Beier, Class of 1999 and a mechanical engineering major, said he had missed out on the ring dunking tra dition when his future wife, Foran’s sister, was in Hungary. and pi' 1 ar egiate IPAcff a hone' ization no: luring the fall and#; ty holidays and exanii* : 0. Carrie is the 12th Aggie in her family. “I wanted to wait for her to come back, so we could dunk our rings together,” he said. “But the event never materialized.” Joshua Beier said getting to share in the ring dunking tradition with his wife and family was wonderful. “This was a great opportunity that came up,” he said, “and it worked out well for us.” Foran’s roommate, Sara Birdsong, a senior community health major, said her roommate was able to include her entire family in on the ring dunking tradition by dunking their rings in ice cream. “I think it was pretty cool the way Carrie did it, because you can get your whole family involved,” she said. “I think it was great that her parents got to come in from Arizona, especially since Carrie doesn’t get to see them that often.” Birdsong said A&M is a big tradition in her roommate’s family. “With Carrie being the 12th Aggie in her fam ily, the Aggie ring holds a lot of significance to them,” she said. Bav Mehga, a Swensen’s employee, said par ties of 20 to 25 people come in after Aggie rings are passed out. “That’s usually about all we have in here from the time rings go out on Thursday until the Saturday after,” he said.
