Party incentives and gas prices are on the rise and after log
ging onto springbreak.com, spring breakers may want to squeeze
a few extra friends in the car to cover fuel costs this year.
The Web site allows travelers to decide which destinations
are in their budget by linking to each state’s average gas price.
Although this site is great for road travelers, springbreak.com
also gives students information about the top 10 spring break
destinations, party schedules and where to go for free items.
Serious partiers or laid back spring breakers can benefit from
springbreak.com, as the list of top 10 spring break hangouts
ranges from crowded beaches to tranquil lakes.
Spring breakers who prefer to have a schedule can plan their
week with this site’s party schedules as springbreak.com gives
the times and days of club events. These schedules let spring
breakers in on the best deals; detailing where to go for free T-
shirts, discounted food and even 30 hours of free beer.
Springbreak.com saves students time from surfing through
dozens of Web sites offering “the best spring break packages,”
and instead provides the most useful information and links to
make the best out of a week away from professors and tests.

Resume writing, job hunting and interviewing can be i
ing, so careerjoumal.com provides tips that every potential employs
should know.
Careerjoumal.com, “The premier career site for executives, man
agers and professionals,” was created by the Wall Street Journal.
At first glance, the Web site looks overwhelming, but WallStreei
Journal reporters have dozens of informative stories published on tie
site that are well worth searching through.
Job hunters can learn what font is used by most professionals ami
the words that help gravitate resumes to the top of an employer’s
stack. These, and other similar tips, are published in “How to gel
Employers to Read your Resume.”
First impressions don’t get a second chance, and
careerjoumal.com has articles to help interviewees succeed.
Interview candidates can be infomied of the biggest interview
turn-off by clicking the link “How Candidates Can Make a Good
First Impression.” Future employees can also find informationabom
cover letters, job search strategies and nonverbal messages that can
sway interviewers.
Some reporters said what employers used to look for in a potent
employee’s resume and interview isn’t what they look for today.
If Web surfers have time to stop for awhile, useful career tipsk
careerjoumal.com can help potential employees from being
behind in the job hunt.

The Student Health Service’s Web site isn’t just about coughs
and colds; shs.tamu.edu provides information from tattoos to
stress management.
Students who are thinking of changing their body into a work
of art can find healthful tips before heading to the tattoo and
piercing parlor and can learn what to do afterwards.
If students are having problems with stress and sleep depriva
tion because of midterms, shs.tamu.edu also gives helpful tips to
manage time and stress levels.
But this site is more than just a body art guide and stress
reliever. SHS benefits students looking for relationship advice,
sexual health information, cancer warning signs or Aggie
REACH volunteers.
Frequently asked questions about student parking, arriving 20
minutes early to appointments and class excuses are all
answered on this site.
There is also an opportunity for students to win money.
While some information tends to be a little lengthy, and stu
dents wouldn’t browse this site for hours of pleasure,
shs.tamu.edu is a solid resource for students feeling sick or
wanting to know the best ways to stay healthy.
80s.com
As much as everyone may try, no one can forget the 1980s. Bis
hair, punk rock and “Back To The Future” were a way of life.
However, the 80s were more than tube socks and Converse snd
ers. The online 80s server fills in the blanks left in people’s minds
about the decade, focusing on TV, music, politics and sports.
Outside of facts about the 80s, the Web site features games, trivia
and polls dedicated to the decade. The site even offers visitors a
chance to purchase 80s merchandise. The layout is also a step back
in time with hot pinks, blues and yellows as the main color scheme
Unfortunately, that step back is limited by the need for a VIP
membership. While much of the site is free to anyone visiting, there
are large portions that are password protected. VIP membershipto
the 80s server is $39.95 a year or $3.95 a month. Membership
unlocks sections of the Web site and allows users the option to create
an e-mail account.
While it’s fun to step back in time for a while and remembera
decade as eventful at the 80s, it’s not worth the membership fee.
Much of the site’s factoids can be found on free sites if one is will
to do a little research.

Ever hear that a tooth left in Coca-Cola overnight will dis
solve? What about the story of a man setting the cruise control
on his car and then crawling into the back seat for a nap? How
about the lover’s lane story that ends with a hook on the car
door handle?
These and other urban legends can be found on the Urban
Legends Reference Page (http://www.snopes.com). The Web
site’s goal is to record and prove, or disprove, as many urban
legends as possible.
Urban legends are folklore that come in the form of old
wives’ tales, campfire horror stories and bits of misinformation
that have been spread and expanded.
Most urban legends seem to have a grain of truth to them. If
one does, the Urban Legend Reference Page will have that truth
flushed out in detail.
The Web site is as informative as it is interesting. It puts to
rest many rumors and is a great reference tool for obscure facts.
The Web site is easy to navigate, and its legends are organ
ized by category. In addition, the site’s search engine can find a
story relating to almost any topic imaginable, and features a fre
quently asked questions page and a message board.
However, once one gets past the first page, the site’s layout
becomes random. Some pages have music, while others have
distracting bright colors.
But the information available on the Urban Legends
Reference Page makes the design mistakes forgivable. It’s a fun
site that should be on everyone’s “favorites” list.
The Division of Student Affairs provides an easily accessibldfi
site for students and faculty to get the latest campus informatiotff
Howdy.tamu.edu lets Aggies preview an entire month of acti#
helping students organize their social calendars with community''
events held at Texas A&M and throughout the Brazos Valley.
Students can find out what the campus dining facilities, such as
Sbisa and Ag Cafe, are serving daily. Better yet, students canclicft
the blinking apples for nutrition information about the food served^
campus.
The site provides great links to useful sites, such as the campus
security site, where users can access criminal behavior statistics.
Students can also sign up for free lunch and interaction with J.
Malon Southerland, vice president of student affairs.
The howdy site is a good source to find maps, a daily weather
report, money and banking suggestions, medical contacts and even
the words to Aggie songs and yells.
The site is an excellent source to keep students and faculty
informed about campus happenings. If users can’t find what they're
looking for, a suggestion box is available.
