(AP) — Police said Sunday they found a body they believe was that of a missing University of Northern Colorado who may have been kidnapped by a man posing as a law enforcement officer. A man was arrested in con nection with the case last week. Police had been searching for Lacy Miller. 20, since she disap peared sometime early Jan. 18. The body was discovered in a rugged canyon about 20 miles northwest of Fort Collins, said police spokeswoman Rita Davis. “It is a relief that they found her,” said her stepfather, Mark Cohen. “Probably the hardest thing is that it takes away your hope. It is a relief if this is her. We kind of think it is.” On Wednesday, police arrest ed Jason Peder Clausen, 22, for investigation of kidnapping and murder. Police said they had received a tip, but would not provide details because of a gag order. Miller’s family reported her disappearance after she failed to return from a night out with friends. Her car was found parked near her parents’ house in Fort Collins. Investigators said they believe Clausen may have stopped Miller by posing as a policeman. He was known to drive around in a white sport utility vehicle with red and blue lights and act like a policeman, according to sheriff’s records. Davis said a man fitting Clausen’s description "may have also stopped or attempted to stop other women in the recent past.” Parking IRWIN • THE BATTAi' i)t like to workoii' rly morning. Transit Services Director Gary Jackson said. During the next five years. Transit Services will attempt to form a better relationship with Brazos Transit System to assist students without cars in traveling to places around the communi ty other than campus. “We want to be a more professional organiza tion,” Jackson said. “More like a transit organi zation in a city.” With the name and policy change, Weis said he hopes to improve the image of Transportation Services and move away from the untrue and inaccurate stories and perceptions he said some hold about the old PTTS. “We hope that members of the community will begin to see our department as a service provider,” Weis said, “and not a hindrance to conducting business or parking on campus.” motivated and c" enow what yom ourself, haveapS :oner said, “is® ominations.
