The selection will be nar rowed down to two or three designs and will be decided by a vote of church members. However, Singleton and Floyd will gather ideas from all of the projects to come up with their final design. “Fin so thrilled that this is happening. It’s a positive experi ence for the college, the stu dents, and the community,” said Singleton, who is ultimately responsible for the project. “We want to keep the momentum going to get the plans completed and get the construction started.” As of yet, there is no deadline for the design to be selected. However, the community hopes to begin construction plans as soon as possible. The congrega tion is relying upon donations from within the church to make construction possible, but hopes that recent exposure will bring donations from outside sources. “You get cliches like this all the time, but words cannot express our feelings of grati tude,” said Hoke. “Building this church is going to be a work of faith. We still need to raise a lot of money, but people have been very generous.” Jan Wilson, a resident of Singleton for 46 years, said the students did an incredible job. “We were all surprised at how professional and talented they were. Our old church was around 130 years old when it burnt down. They don't know who did it, but it was a blessing in disguise.” The students are done with their portion of the project, but many plan to follow the progress of the Singleton church. “This was a great project, we not only learned a lot about archi tecture but about people too,” said Courtney Samohyl, a junior envi ronmental design major. Mann said his students worked extremely hard for the last three weeks. “The academic world and the real world are pretty far apart sometimes ” Singleton said. “It’s wonderful when we can bring these worlds together in such a great way.” Building Chi’s purpos Chi and a ju “Phi Chi i "The Phi Cf meeting pec always open A major life is social Phi Chi f to School Ba began.
