nation's second-longest current
home winning streak end at 19
games on Nov. 24, 2001, after a
16-13 loss to Oklahoma State
in Norman. The 1999-2001

Texas, with its longest string
of wins (13) at Royal-Texas
Memorial Stadium since the
1982-84 seasons, has climbed
into third place with its current
streak. OU had the best current

Nebraska-Penn State
Draws 8th 100,000-Plus
Crowd for Big 12 Schools:
Largest in History
Nebraska’s game last
Saturday night against Penn
State at University Park, Pa.,
was the largest ever to see a
Big 12 school play in any ath
letics' event. A “split-national”
telecast with an ABC audience
brought the total viewership to
millions and also marked the
second game involving a Big
12 team (along with the
100,037 on hand for the Texas
Tech-Ohio State matchup) in
2002 to reach six figures.

THE BATTALION
I Although the matchup in College Station
bi tween No. 7 Virginia Tech and No. 19
Texas A&M may be the biggest game in the
B g 12 this weekend, there are some other
big matchups within the conference.
I Manhattan, Kan. will be the site of
another marquee matchup as No. 25 Kansas
Slate hosts No. 11 USC.
I Kansas State has become the front run-
tjcr in the Big 12 North after pre-season
favorite Colorado dropped its first two
games and Nebraska was throttled by Penn
Slate last week.
I USC will look to knock off another Big
12 Noh title contender in consecutive
weeks ter beating Colorado in Boulder last
week, D-3. The Wildcats beat the Trojans
last ye; 10-6 at USC.
Theluffaloes began the season in the top
10 antwere considered by many to be a
favoritin the national championship hunt.
Howe’r, after their showing against No. 1 1
USC l;t week in Boulder, many have began
to doit that they will even contend for the
Big UNorth title.
Corado’s schedule does not get any
easieithis week as they travel to No. 20
UCLAn the Rose Bowl.
Tats Tech will face off against No. 17
NortlCarolina State at 11:30 a.m. on the
Fox Sorts Network.
The Red Raiders are looking to continue
the success they had against Mississippi last
week, while the Wolfpack is looking to
improve to 5-0 on the season. North
Carolina State edged out Texas Tech in their
last meeting in 1993, 36-34.
The University of Texas will host the
University of Houston this weekend in what
will be another sellout crowd at Daryl K.
Royal Memorial Stadium in Austin.
The No. 3 Longhorns are considered a
favorite to win the Big 12 South this year
while the Cougars are simply looking to
improve upon their 0-1 1 2001 season. U of
H is off to a 2-1 start this year.
However, the Cougars have not beaten
the Longhorns since 1991.
