www.bored.com
Viewers with free time will find themselves immersed in the triv
ial activities found on www.bored.com. One link, Guess the TV
Show or Movie Name" lets surfers spend at least 15 minutes
answering questions such as whether the show takes place in a
city, the two main characters are gay or if there is a talking baby in
the show. .
Another link is to www.goodquotes.com, where pick-up lines
and tips like "Drive around like a car and make screeching sounds
and say "Uh, sorry, my uh, brakes aren’t working well. Where are
you headed?" and funny thoughts like "Why do we say 'bye bye
but not 'hi hi'?" run amok.
Other time-consuming activities include setting up an online
lemonade stand, "popping" or clicking virtual bubble wrap and for
a daily dose of good-doing, www.digitalcharity.com.
For CNN junkies, a link to "Chuck Shepherd's News of the Weird''
lists true and strange news events from around the world. Ever
hear of the lady in New York who displayed 13 of her reproductive
eggs, floating in silicone in a Connecticut museum to exhibit "the
pressures women feel when their biological clocks are ticking?
Papers, shmapers, tests, shmests. With bored.com, students will
most likely never be bored and may never resume studying.

one visit to www.hotornot.com, laughter is sure to ensue and
countless hours of valuable study time can be spent on this one
Web site.
Hotornot.com, which has been featured in People. Time,
Newsweek and The New York Times, displays countless pictures of
individuals who willingly, unless they have one mean enenr,
mit their picture for all of cyberspace to view and vote upor
Picture after picture appears as viewers rate Mr. "Look at me
playing with my dog," a mere two out of 10 and Miss 'I'm tri-
hard to look as if I'm in deep thought' a five. After each vote
submitted, a new picture appears and a smaller version of ft
ture surfers just voted on appears on the left hand sidewttb
picture's average score. Also displayed is the time the perscr
tured m the photo last checked their score.
As an added bonus, if one surfer finds someone in a phot:
ticularly attractive, they can click on the link named 'Click hr
Meet Me" and can easily be connected with the person thfl ;
admire.
Viewers may use this not only for its matchmaking service:
a stress reliever. But submitters beware. One bad test grade*
put Web surfers in a bad mood and a Claudia Schiffer look
may just get voted a one.

Hicks looks to sell Stars
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Dallas Stars
owner Tom Hicks has hired a company to
explore and manage a possible sale of his
NHL team and his half-ownership of the
company that manages and operates the
American Airlines Center where the team
plays.
Any sale wouldn't affect his ownership
of the Texas Rangers, his major league
baseball team.
"As much as I love hockey and the Stars, I
have met and exceeded the goals I set six
years ago," Hicks said in a statement
Monday. "After much thought and private

team owner rather than a two-team owner*
Hicks purchased the Stars in 1996 for
S84 million, and the team won the Stanley
Cup three years later. The Stars missed the
playoffs last season for the first time under
Hicks' ownership, which resulted in the fir
ing of coach Ken Hitchcock midway
through the season.
J.P. Morgan Securities Inc, the company
hired by Hicks, declined to specify a proposed
purchase price for the Stars and the half-own
ership in the Center Operating Company that
operates the $420 million American Airlines
Center that opened last year.
Hicks said the sale of the Stars
