Businesses in Oklahoma are planning sales this weekend to try to stop Sooners from flocking across the Red River. A Texas law lifts the sales tax on shoes and clothes priced under $100 during the first full weekend in August every year. Texas officials say the state has gained $334 million in revenue NEWS IN BRIEF since the tax-free holiday started in 1999. The state gets an over all bonus from hotel, restaurant and other travel-related receipts, and from the purchase of items not exempt from sales taxes, officials said.
