Baylor (22-1, 7-0) put themselves on the brink
of victory with No. 8 Benjamin Becker’s win at
court one over A&M’s No. 46 Ryan Newport and
needed only one victory out of the three remain
ing matches to claim the team victory and the
Big 12 title.
However, the win would not come at the
expense of Aggie senior Jarin Skube’s perfect
Big 12 season record, which he expanded to 7-0
with his court five win, leaving freshmen Cook
and Ante Matijevic on the courts trying to hold
off the Baylor offensive.

Paul Thorp after Taylor left
the game.
Rusty Meyer greeted
Thorp with a home run over
the left field wall to cut the
lead to 4-1. Justin Pouk’s RBI
single made it a 4-2 game but
the Aggies could not get any
closer the rest of the way.
After getting 12 hits in
Friday’s game at Olsen Field,
the Aggies managed only 12
in the two games in Waco. To
make matters worse, A&M
could only muster one hit in
16 at bats with runners in
scoring position.
“We’re not a great hitting

The Aggies jumped out of the gate quickly by
winning two of three doubles matches to win the
doubles point that has proven so crucial to A&M
this season. The Aggies are now 21-0 when win

Seniors Olivia Karlikova and Majorie Terburgh
gave the Aggies a quick 3-0 lead as Karlikova
defeated Kansas’ Emily Haylock, 6-0, 6-2, on court
No. 2 and Terburgh knocked off Courtney
Steinbock, 6-2, 6-2, on court No. 3.
The Jayhawks won their lone match on court
No. 6, as Kim Lorenz defeated senior Robyn
Bassett, 6-0, 6-4.
Sophomore Roberta Spencer would secure the
win for the Aggies as she extended her personal
winning streak to seven with a win
Jayhawks Aurelie Be jar, 6-1, 6-4.
“The 7th-straight win helps me a lot with m<
confidence,” Spencer said. “This was a great vi
for us and I think everyone did a great job.
With the match firmly secured, sophonK®
Jessica Roland and junior Ashley Hedburg*
won their matches to complete the 6-1 win o'ff
the Jayhawks.
Roland’s win was especially sweet as it ended:
five match losing streak that was beginning to taks
its toll on the sophomore standout.
“It feels good to finally get a win.' Rolands.)
