MSC
UarieMShow
assistant opinion editor for Fall 2(XK). She
believes her experience has given her the
knowledge and qualifications that will enable
her to effectively serve as editor in chief.
New ideas and improvements are possi
bilities for the coming fall semester,
Crutcher said, but she is waiting to discuss
her ideas with an editorial staff that has yet
to be selected.
After graduation, Crutcher plans to
attend law school. She hopes to develop her
management skills as editor for The
Battalion.
Senior journalism major Doug Fuentes
said serving as editor in chief for the sum
mer is the culmination of his years at The
Battalion, in which he has worked in nearly
every area including sports, news.
Aggielife, opinion and photography.
“I love working at the paper so much”
Fuentes said. “I want to get as much expe
rience as I can.”
Fuentes, who is from Waco, has worked
for The Battalion as a sports writer since the
fall of 1998 and served as the sports editor
from summer 1999 through spring 2000 and
spring 2001. He worked for the sports desk at
The Bryan/College Station Eagle from May
through December 2000 and also worked in
the ESPN X-games’ graphics department in
the summer of 2001 and in January.
As editor in chief, Fuentes hopes to create
a balance between a fun working environment
and getting the job done. He plans to focus on
students’ perceptions of the newspaper and
encourage students to turn to The Battalion as
their main source of news on campus.
For junior biology major Denise
Bischofhausen, being selected as Aggieland
editor is reaching a goal she set 8 years ago.
She has been the academics editor for fe
yearbook for the past 2 years, was ad
er her freshman year and has been involved
in yearbook production for 8 years.
“The Aggieland is on an incrediblestan
tlard,” Bischofhausen said. “I want to con
tinue what editors before me have done.
Bischofhausen, who is from Irving, sees
the Aggieland as an A&M tradition. She
believes passion and detennination will
make her an effective editor.
“This is what I love to do more (to any
thing in the world,” she said.
In addition to working to continue
Aggieland's past success, Bischofhausen
plans to add 2 new positions to the staff.■
marketing editor to promote sales and dis
tribution and an assistant editor to incre®
proofing accuracy. Keeping unity and com
munication throughout the staff is also 31
important goal, she said.
