Theatre Council and a junior theater arts major,
said although safety and risk management training
may be useful for some groups, it is not helpful for
groups who do not take trips or engage in high-
risk activities.
“The recognition process seems to me to be a
mixture of being beneficial and too time- consum
ing, especially the conferences that deal with issues
not related to that organization,” Symank said.
Student leaders also learn about leadership
skills and event planning during the sessions.
Although the effort required for recognition is
time consuming, the staff is motivating and makes
the seminars worthwhile, said Chris Bernhardt, a
senior director for the Aggie Fish Club and a jun
ior speech communications major.
“The recognition process does consist of busy-
work. and attending all of the seminars can make
your semester even busier, but it ensures that the lead
ers are getting the proper training,” Bernhardt said.
A steady Bow of organizations go through the
process every year, Durham said.
“A lot of the newer organizations come about
as current issues on campus and hot topics appear,
so those come and go a lot faster than others,”
Durham said.
