ZOBMONDOU The Outrageous Book of
Bizarre Choices
Randy Horn. Darcy Horn, Jess Brallier and
Sally Chabert
Workman Publishers
"Would you rather have a band of mariachi
singers follow you everywhere or one determined
bagpipe player follow you everywhere?"
This is just one of the 404 questions readers con
front as they eagerly turn the pages of ZOBMON-
DOH The Outrageous Book of Bizarre Choices by Randy Horn, Darcy
Horn, Jess Brallier and Sally Chabert.
Randy Horn, the mind behind the idea of Zobmondo, defines it as a
term that illustrates how readers will react after reading the questions
contained within. It is an expression that encompasses fear, embar
rassment, horror, laughter and disgust.
He provides readers with a warning on the cover of this colorful,
pocket-sized book: "WARNING: contains shocking content meant to
inspire hilarious discussion. The questions inside may be nauseating,
heinous or disturbing.” Readers are well-advised to heed his words.
This book is definitely not for children.
Questions range from thought provoking to silly. Some are so dis
gusting that they wall make readers cringe and gag.
“Would you rather drink a glass of your one-day-old spit or a glass
of your own sweat?”
"Would you rather thoroughly lick a large frog all over or, just once,
lick a two-inch area of the back side of the urinal in a Porta-Potty?”
At first glance, sophisticated readers w ill wonder why this book is
worth their time. They will undoubtedly feel a little embarrassed to
find themselves chuckling while thumbing through the pages. They
may even read this book in hiding from their high-brow colleagues.
However, on deeper inspection, they will discover that many of the
questions provoke deep introspection.
"Would you rather be unable to stand up for yourself or never be
able to back down?”
“Would you rather be a millionaire and then hit rock-bottom or live
your life with just enough money to get by?”
Questions such as these are not easily answered and can reveal
much about a person's values and beliefs. For this reason, ZOB
MONDO!! should not be read alone. Instead, it should be enjoyed
among friends. Readers will be surprised at what they can learn
about others by their reactions and responses to the most awkward,
embarrassing and hilarious questions ever asked.
Another feature of ZOBMONDOU is the humorous quotes
from famous people and strange facts pertaining to the question
included on each page. Quotes from Woody Allen to Dwight
Eisenhower can be found in this little book. As for interesting j
facts, readers will be interested to discover there are more than j
FIVE million hairs on the human body, or that a cockroach can j
live for nine days without its head until it starves to death.
ZOBMONDOU is an experience like no other. It will
make readers laugh, it will make them squirm and, unexpect
edly, it will make them think. (Grade: B+)

Dwight Yoakam finds
singing and acting similar
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Country singer Dwight
Yoakam, who plays a volatile burglar in the new
movie Panic Room, says working in a recording studio
and shooting a movie are not that different.
"They're both very fragmented," Yoakam said.
"You'll start out with a master take, the whole band
plays it, and then we start doing coverage of each
instrument, and it's very similar to filmmaking in
terms of the process, time involved and the repetition
of performance."
