Bowen will step down. Whitmore earned his bach elor’s of arts and master’s in speech and theater from Washington State University. While at the University of Texas, he said he helped in a $31 million fund raising effort for the liberal arts program and would be comfortable with the role of a fundraiser that a president must play, since fine arts departments rely on private funds.
