up I was going to lose the match,” Terburgh said. “I don’t like to
lose and I really wanted to win this match. I don’t get the opportu
nity to play No. 1 very often, and when I do, I want to play my best
and get the win.
“You always have to be focused when you play at No. 1 because
there are no bad [players] on the No. 1 court.”
Senior Olivia Karlikova played at No. 2 in both matches, the
highest she has played this season. Karlikova knocked off SFA’s
Christine Hunyh, 6-1, 6-1, and completed the evening by beating
ACU’s Lucy Johnson, 6-3, 6-3. v
Karlikova, who played much of last season at No. 1 and No. 2 for
the Aggies, has struggled with nagging injuries and illness this sea
son. However, as she proved this weekend against Arizona and again
on Tuesday night, she feels quite comfortable on the top courts.
“That’s where I am used to playing,” Karlikova said. “It felt nice
to be back at No. 2.”
Kleinecke said Karlikova has improved and expects her to play
an increased role in the Aggies upcoming matches.
“Olivia is back,” Kleinecke said. “She is working hard in her
points and playing a lot smarter.”
The Aggies will travel to Lincoln, Neb., this weekend to face the
Cornhuskers on Saturday. A&M’s next home match is Sunday,
March 17, against Miami (Fla.) at the Varsity Tennis Center.

SPORTS IN BRIEF
Aggies bow out of Big 12 tournament
The Texas A&M women's basketball team lost in the first round
of the Big 12 Conference Tournament to Oklahoma State
University on Tuesday, 92-76.
The Aggies (13-16, 5-12) finished their most productive season
since joining the Big 12 and earned the most total wins since the
1996 season when they won 20 games.
The Cowgirls were paced by Tari Cummings' 17 points and had
six players score in double figures.
Oklahoma State outscored the Aggies 28-8 in the final 6:27 of
the first half to take a 55-38 lead at halftime.
In the second half, an A&M comeback cut OSU's lead to six
points with 3:35 remaining. The Cowgirls then went on a 13-0
run to give them their biggest lead of the contest.
Junior Kim Moore scored a career-high 26 points in the contest
and sophomore Toccara Williams added 19 points and nine
assists. Williams leads the Big 12 and is 14th in the nation in
assists this season.
Men’s tennis on the road to play LSU
The No. 24 Texas A&M men's tennis team will continue its
season with a visit to the No. 15 Louisiana State University
Tigers (3-3) on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
The match follows a sweep over the weekend of Abilene
Christian University and Boise State University that improved the
Aggies' spring season record to 8-2.
Sophomore Khaled El Dorry will be looking for his eighth con
secutive singles victory and freshman Ante Matijevic looks to
improve his record to 8-1 so far this season.
