Traditions are also changing with the wedding party. Hurn said that at one wedding, the bride told her bridesmaids to pick their own dresses so they could wear them again. “The bride wanted them to wear black and have the dresses be long, but they could buy what they liked,” Hum said. “The dresses looked beautiful on them because each dress had been chosen to suit them.” The Sept. 1 1 terrorist attacks have influenced many aspects of people's lives, including weddings. Since Walter’s fiance will be going into the military, they have decided to play “God Bless the USA" at their reception. Walters said they will invite all the guests who have been in the military to dance during the song. “It’s tying in the military aspect,” Walters said. “But even a year ago, it would not have been as meaningful as it is now.” In another response to Sept. 11, more guests are coming to wed dings. Hum said that last summer the ratio of guests to the number of invitations sent out was low. However, in the fall, Hurn said the ratio went up. “Families are making an effort to come together” Hurn said. “Life is too short to miss out on these things.” Let's Co Out To Cat Thursdays in The Battalion * New Northgate Location * 409A University Dr., Northgate 846-6666 AGGIE SPECIAL TOPPING (No Limit) NOW ACCEPTING:Visa-MC-Discover VaW at participating item only Not vaM with any other offer.
