Summerall announced Tues day that he will leave his long time NFL broadcasting partner after they call the Super Bowl for Fox Sports. But the 71-year-old former New York Giants star kicker, who’s been associated with the NFL for 50 years as a player or announcer, said he won’t rule out doing more TV work. Asked if he’s set on retiring, Summerall said: “Absolutely not. 1 still want to do games. I still want to work with the NFL. I’d love to get back in volved in golf in some way. I’d love to do tennis again.” While Summerall called those sports when he was at CBS, he is best known as half of the longest- paired NFL TV duo ever. Summerall’s play-by-play and Madden's color analysis have complemented each other since they were paired at CBS in 1981. They moved together to Fox in 1994 after that net work bought NFL rights. Their Feb. 3 swan song will be Summerall's 17th Super Bowl broadcast. “I’ll miss standing next to John during the course of a broadcast and watching his an tics and enjoying his commen tary and trying to react to his commentary,” Summerall said. "That I can never replace.” im Woolley jimwooUeY@tamw.edu c!ier -tiacher@taniu.edu ly Abroad Program Office Bizzeli Hall West T J Floor 845-0544 Longhorns Continued from page 5 said Gardener would not be invited to play again this season. “We are going to allow Daryl to come back and start to prac tice, although that will be ongoing in terms of when he is ready to play,” Watkins said. “Michael, we are not going to invite back. He is still suspended indefinitely.” Tipoff at the Frank Erwin Center is at 8 p.m. Ranked Continued from page 5 The Aggies played much of the Colorado game without their season scoring leader Meg Banahan after early foul trouble. Banahan, a junior forward, was the leading scorer in the five-point loss to Kansas State last Wednesday with 26 points and will be crucial against Baylor. “Not having Meg out there really hurt us (Saturday),” Gillom said. “She and Toccara (Williams) are the glue that holds this team together.” The Bears used their senior guard, Sheila Lambert, to end Missouri's 12-game home wining streak Saturday. Lambert had a game-high 27 points and added seven assists against the Tigers in the conference match-up in Colombia, Mo. Lambert led the Big 12 in scoring last season with an average of 22.1 points per game and was nominated as one of 10 finalists for the Nancy Lieberman-Cline Step- Up Award, honoring the nation’s top collegiate point guard in women’s basketball. The Aggies lead the all- time series between the teams, 34-24, and have won three of the last four match-ups. The Bears defeated the Aggies the last time the two teams met, 80-55. in Waco.
