Hundreds rally to show
support for war on terrorism
AUSTIN (AP) — About 200 people rallied in
front of the Capitol Tuesday evening to show
support for the nation’s war against terrorism
as Gov. Rick Perry urged them to “keep flying
the stars and stripes."
"If it takes months, if it takes years to see
that justice is done, we will see that justice is
done," Perry told the crowd.
The gathering, billed as the “Rally for
America,” drew people wearing red, white

and blue T-shirts waving American flags who
wanted to honor the victims of the Sept. 11
terrorist attacks on the East Coast and to
show support the military.
A choir and singers performed just outside
the Capitol and an R0TC Color Guard partic
ipated in the ceremony. After the rally, a laser
light show was scheduled at a nearby park.
Marty Fangman of Keller told the crowd
about losing his brother, Robert, in the crash.
Robert was a flight attendant on one of the
United Airline planes that crashed into the
World Trade Center.
"The rest of our lives have changed
since that time," Fangman said as he
recalled spending days on LakeTrav
his brother.
Perry urged the crowd to remain stes:
in their support for the U.S. military.
“To our soldiers and sailors and airmef
say to you today that the American p«
stand behind you. The American pe
stand behind you 100 percent," Perry
