Senior All-Americans Madden and Caradima were bounced in the first round of doubles championships by top-seeded Huntley Montgomery and Brian Vahlay of the University of Vir ginia, 6-4, 6-4. Madden was also defeated in the sec ond round of singles competition by LSU’s Ramaswami, 6-2, 6-4. In spite of a bittersweet end to the season, Cass said “the season was a great adventure. I think reaching the final eight was a great ac complishment. You’re in an elite group. “They’ve done a tremendous job for the pro gram,” In spite of the loss of such talent, Cass said he was eager for next season to start. “The standard these guys (the seniors) have set is very high. I look for Tres , Ryan Newport and Keith From to step to the forefront,” he said.
