Febr H£adlin£rs Kissinger, 2welvelead to play Bryan venue toni By Lance Lunsford The Battalion Bryan-College Station hosted Kissinger and 2welvelead together when they competed in 3rd Floor Cantina’s Battle of the Bands. A battle of the bands this is not, but Saturday’s show should be as power ful and loud as the two bands were two months ago. Kissinger will team up with 2welvelead again this Saturday night at 3rd Floor to refuel before its tour in April. With the release of their new al bum Charm. Kissinger’s present suc cess comes as somewhat of a surprise to lead singer Chopqper (pronounced Chaw-purr). “1 didn't think it would take off that fast,” Chopqper said about the CD that took two-and-a-half-years to make. Produced by John Croslin, Charm took 30 months to record because the band used the sudio when it was emp ty, so they could record for free. Since good things finally have come those who waited, Kissinger is taking full advantage of the album’s present popularity. Their tour begins in April with shows in Dallas, Houston and Austin, their hometown. Chopqper said goals for the band tire still evolving. “We’re looking to get a bigger label,” Chopqper said. “We've al ready had to press our second thou sand [CDs]." In addition to recording the CD on their own, the band is self-managed and arranges tour dates and distribu tion of their album. Kissinger is targeting the East Coast for its nationwide tour because of the connections Chopcps during his stint with Vertical /on (VH). As VH's original bass pis Chopqper left when the bandsa with RCA in 1997 to iij Kissinger. Chopqper brought ino3(sli0t; Otto Von Foxrock ID) and beg hearsing with him before pil bassist Lucky and guitarists Garvey into the mix. Exciting and action-packed, it is difficult to imagine any other movie this year being cooler. Michael (Russell) and Murphy (Costner) are ex- cons determined to make one last big score. What bet ter place to rob than a Las Vegas casino during Interna tional Elvis week? The robbery goes awry in stylish fashion with bod ies and bullets flying everywhere in slow motion. These John Woo action sequences have become the in dustry standard for action movies, but Graceland sOW manages to make them seem fresh and fun. After Michael and Murphy make their escape, the real sparks begin to fly as a series of double crosses between a young woman (Courteney CoF. quette), her son and $3 million.
