sources close to the investigation said

down through phone records show
ing that the suspected bombers had

All four live in the southern port
city of Aden, where the two suspect
ed suicide bombers blew up a small
boat filled with explosives alongside
the Cole on Oct. 12 as it prepared to
refuel. Seventeen Americans were
killed.
Investigations have also revealed
that officials in Lahej, a stronghold of
the militant Islamic Jihad, provided
the suspected bombers with govern
ment cars for use within Aden and
between Aden and Lahej, 22 miles to
the north.
The sources said the suspected
bombers knew the officials from
their time together fighting the Sovi
ets in Afghanistan in the 1980s.

MIAMI (AP) — A Florida circuit judge Monday upheld a record-si
$145 billion award to Florida smokers, rejecting tobacco industry re
