The Big 12 Preview will be an excellent early test for the Aggie golfers because of the Big 12’s strength as a conference. However, Sutherland has confidence in this year's team. "This is a great team. It’s the strongest we’ve been since '98, when we had that great senior class,” Sutherland said. •”We have better balance than we have had since I have been here up and down the lineup. It’s going to be fun to watch.” The 1998 team won the Big 12 title, so such a compar ison speaks volumes about Sutherland’s faith in her team. Going into the Big 12 Preview, Epps, Dyslin, and Jon sson secured their spots in the lineup, but there is a dog fight for the last two spots. Senior Marta Ostos, juniors Jennifer Cates and Jennifer Poth, and freshman Mira Bendevis all have a shot at making the lineup. “Anybody can step up into the top five,” Sutherland said. “Our biggest strength is that these women aren’t afraid to set high goals and work to achieve them.” Ill THIS IS URMSSSI N IF YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT SAY CHEESE. ebraska sweeps io finished just l5-of-2 : | Is and two interceptions [ ukman and Smith caml ' they needed to inovolggjg volleyball ler failed to win it in reti* 00 J n his 45-yard attempt sal The Texas A&M volleyball team with 1:06 to play. |s swept on Saturday by the i won the coin toss, then.-to. 1-ranked University of Nebras- >ked up with James MTP Cornhuskers. a 19-yard gain, and Sni'The 15-13, 16-14, 15-7 Ne- 0 yards on two carries| aska vic tory over the 22nd- llas to the Carolina44. The Aggies took the initial lead in game one of the match, courtesy of an Erin Gibson ace, but would not lead in the first game again as the ’Huskers took over. The Aggies tied it up nine times in the second game, but Nebraska broke a 14-14 tie with a kill and an A&M error. A&M opened the fourth game by building a 4-1 lead but Nebras ka then racked up nine unan swered points before putting the Aggies away. Coach Laurie Corbelli said that she hopes her young Aggies can take something away from the Ne braska match. “We were bringing a young team into a new environment and it took a full game before we were able to get started," she said. “It was a good experience for our young team. If we can learn from this I will be happy.” Class of 2001 Don’t miss your chance to be in Texas A&M’s 2001 Aggieland yearbook! Get your FREE Senior picture taken at AR Photography.
