The heavens declare
the reality of God
The sun and stars are slowly
burning out. Like a giant battery,
the whole universe is running
down. It is abundantly clear that
the cosmos cannot sustain itself
forever. Therefore, it is most
intelligent and reasonable for us
to believe that the universe was
created by the eternal being
that is Qod.
Are you interested in getting
to know God? He loves all
persons. He loves you and me.
Almost 2000 years ago, he sent
his son Jesus Christ into the
world to die on the cross for our
wrongdoings and sinS and re
turn to life through the miracle of
the resurrection.
God’s plan for each of us is
that we turn away from our sins
and believe in Christ. When we
do this, God forgives us and
gives us fellowship and eternal
life with himself. You can be
come a Christian right now
wherever you are. Tell God that
you are sorry for your sins and
that you here and now accept
Christ as your Savior and Lord.
As soon as you have received
Christ, you may be sure that he
has forgiven you of every sin and
has given you eternal life. You
may be sure that God will lead
you by his spirit in the way that is
good and right. Make friends with
other Christians. Meet with them
for worship, prayer, and Bible
study. Make a habit of reading
the Bible. Start with the gospel of
John. And may God bless you!

Texas stunned by loss
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) -
DeRonnie Pitts punctuated an up-
and-down, back-and-forth game with
a flying leap of faith.
Pitts cartwheeled into the end
zone after catching a 15-yard touch
down pass from backup quarterback
Chris Lewis with 1:12 to play as
Stanford beat No. 5 Texas 27-24 on
Saturday night.
Stanford led 20-9 with 10 minutes
left, Texas' Major Applewhite rallied
the Longhorns with two touchdown
drives. The Cardinal (2-1) then made
a frantic four-play, 59-yard drive in
just 43 seconds.
It ended when Pitts caught a short
sideline pass, broke Joe Walker's tack
le at the 10, leaped for the goal line,
was flipped into the air by Roderick
Babers and landed in the end zone.
“I knew I was flying over him as
soon as I got off that one tackle," Pitts
said. “Chris made a great throw, and
we set up the play perfectly. (The
leap) was pretty scary, but 1 saw (Vir
ginia Tech QB) Michael Vick do it to
day, so I thought I'd give it a shot.”
Texas (1 -1) could not answer, with
Brandon Healy dropping a fourth-
down pass from Applewhite with 33
seconds to play. Stanford fans stood
and cheered for several minutes after

Cardinal beat No. 7 Colorado.
“It's an absolutely fantastic feel

said coach Tyrone Willingham, who
called the victory one of the biggest
of his tenure. “It shows the resilience
of our young men to bounce back and
not let the past affect them."

Lewis led a dramatic comeback in

LUBBOCK (AP) — Texas Tech improved to 4-0 with
a 26-0 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette, but quarterback
Kliff Kingsbury said the Red Raiders can use next week
off to let some bumps and bruises heal and to work on of
fensive consistency.
The Red Raiders managed just 14 yards of offense
during the third quarter.
“It was just one of those things,” Kingsbury said. “We
just had a spell where it seemed like we let up a little. We
didn’t come out and play as well as we're capable.”
Kingsbury’s 2-yard pass to Tim Baker and field
goals of 24 and 19 yards by Chris Burkholz gave the
Red Raiders a 13-0 halftime lead over the Ragin' Ca
juns (0-3). A 71-yard screen pass to Baker set up an
other touchdown.
“I let myself down and made some stupid mistakes,”
Cajun quarterback Jon Van Cleave said. "We moved the
chains in the second half. We just have to finish drives.”
Tech intercepted Van Cleave three times and Wes
Welker scored on a 63-yard punt return late in the third.
In the fourth , Baker took a screen pass 71 yardsfe
the Tech 25 to the Cajun 4, and running back Rki
Williams scored from there.
“1 wished 1 would have scored, but I was tryingm
careful with the ball,” Baker said. "1 have confident;;
