Denton woman admits to murder
DENTON, Texas (AP) — When Pa
tricia Donnelly was first pulled over by
police, she was suspected only of theft
for driving away from a convenience
store without paying for gas. Now she
faces a murder charge.
A convenience store clerk reported
the drive-away theft. After stopping the
23-year-old Denton woman on Wednes
day, police determined that the car she
was driving belonged to Cary Ray
Taylor, 43, of Corinth, just south of
Denton, who had been missing for al
most a month.
She later admitted that she had
strangled Taylor and dumped his body
into a grassy ravine in Henderson
County near Athens, about 110 miles
southeast of Denton.
Donnelly led detectives on Friday to
the area, where they found what they
believe to be Taylor's body. An autopsy
is pending to confirm the identity and
cause of death.
Donnelly, who remains in the Den
ton County Jail, told police she met
Taylor on June 15 at a Dallas nightclub,
Denton police detective Sgt. Steve
Macsas said.
"He came back to Denton with her
that night with the intentions of hav
ing sex," Macsas told the Denton
Record-Chronicle.
