"Freshman Welcome Day makes moving to
campus a positive experience for freshmen,"
Sasse said. "It helps the freshmen and their fam
ilies feel welcome."
In addition to volunteers helping move
belongings and distribute water, there will also be
volunteers to help freshman break down their
boxes for cardboard recycling, Balkum said.

"There will also be [Parking,Traffic and Transportation
Services] personnel out helping to direct traffic, and there
will be designated 'assisted unloading areas' close to the
dorms," Balkum said.
Other universities in Texas-Austin (UT) offer a wel
come to the freshman, but do not officially organize the
day. The University of Texas has a program. Gone to
Texas, in which university officials extend an official
welcome to freshman, said Kerri „Muse, a sophomore
studio arts major at UT.
"Gone to Texas is our official freshman welcome, and
we have a resource fair to get students out and meeting
each other, but we do not have an official program that
is dedicated to helping freshman move in," Muse said.
