boat carrying eight passengers
sank 27 miles southeast of Galve
ston on Tuesday.
U.S. Coast Guard officials in
Galveston said they received a
mayday call from the boat’s emer
gency radio beacon at 9:30 a.m.
A Coast Guard helicopter re
sponded to the call.
At the scene, three of the
boat’s passengers were lifted
onto the helicopter. Four other
passengers had already swum to

The helicopter dropped
two of the boat’s crew at the r|
and took Rollin Reynolds tot
hospital.
Reynolds, 38, of Houston,was
pronounced dead at 11:48 a.r
