Softball shuts
out Cowgirls
The Texas A&M soft-
ball team pounded out
11 hits, including two
home runs while playing
strong defense to
shutout Oklahoma State
at Cowgirl Stadium in
Stillwater, Okla.
an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles.
After the four hour and 15 minute
match, the Aggies fell to 15-10 overall
and now will wait for the NCAA tourna
ment announcements on May 4.
“It was a very typical A&M and Baylor
match,” said A&M women’s tennis coach
Bobby Kleinecke. “I said before the match
that I thought the match would come down
to doubles. You have to credit Baylor. They
came out and just played better doubles
than us at number one and two.
“1 am very proud of the team. Our
goal was to come out and just lay it all on
the court. Cassie played her heart out and
even took an IV in between singles and
doubles. She gave everything she had.”
Sports in Brief
Freshman Olivia Karlikova put the
Aggies on the board first as she beat Bay-
lor’s Katja Kovac, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 2.
Then sophomore Leah Killen took a
straight sets win over BU’s Karin An-
dersson, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 4 to give A&M
a 2-0 lead.
Baylor then scored their first point as
Frisa Borjesson beat A&M’s Lisa Ding
wall, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 5.
Senior Kathryn Scott answered with
a point for A&M and a 3-1 lead with her
6-2,6-3 win over Baylor’s Monica Gon
zalez at No. 6. Baylor pulled within one
at 3-2 as Jahnavi Parekh defeated
A&M’s Martina Nedorostova, 3-6, 6-3,
6-4, at No. 1.
The victory comes
after a 3-0 shutout to the
Cowgirls on Saturday.
That shutout marked the
fourth time the Aggies
were blanked in six
games.
The Aggies improved
to 28-19 and 7-9 in the
Big 12. A&M will close
the season Wednesday
against Texas Tech.

fans at the University of
Pennsylvania.
The All-American A&M
relay team ran a 3:05.98,

Texas Christian University,
who finished at 3:05.76
