BYX holds sixth Island Party
BY KIMBERLY OLSON
The Battalion
Between 10,000 and 11,000 people attended the sixth an
nual Island Party, hosted free of charge by the Brothers Under
Christ (BYX) fraternity Saturday.
“We wanted to show the campus and the community the
abundant life there is through Jesus Christ,” said Dean
Pickard, Island Party chairperson and a senior bioenviron-
mental science major. “A relationship with Him is there for
everyone. It's a free gift.”
Aggie football players Jason Webster, Chris Valletta, and
Cornelius Anthony spoke throughout the day about the way
their relationship w ith Christ has changed their lives.
“It was fun, but the party also provided the opportunity to
share the message of Jesus Christ’s love for us,” said Julia
Thomas, a sophomore journalism major.
Christian bands Waterdeep, Priesthood, Nickel and Dime,
and Stephen Mark Pasch performed.
1 lope Sanchez, a sophomore math major, said the live mu
sic was her favorite aspect of the day.
“I had never been exposed to a variety of Christian music
before,” she said. “I learned there are different ways of wor
shipping Christ through music.”
“Priesthood was the hit of the day,” Pickard said. “They got
everyone fired up.”
While listening to music and praising the Lord, students
studied, talked, slept or tanned in the sun.
In addition to
speakers and music,
there were inflatable
games and a rock-
climbing wall to enter
tain Island Party atten
dees. Others engaged
in frisbee, soccer,
baseball orkite flying.
Before arriving at
Island Party, Sanchez
was not sure about
what to expect.
“I am glad I went It
was nice, and it gave
me a chance to glorify
the Lord,” she said.
Jose Alvarez, a
member of BYX and a
sophomore economics
major, supported Is
land Parts because he
wanted to reach those
who are not believers
in Christ
“I know Christ and
the joy I have in Him,” he said.

Come learn what your government does
not want you to know about UFOs. ..
Using the Freedom of Information Act, several UFO research organizations
have recently obtained once-secret government documents concerning
“flying saucers". These, and other newly-declassified documents reveal that
UFOs do exist and, further, indicate that the U.S. Government has been
engaged in a massive cover-up designed to keep the facts from the public.
