Boasting driving drum beats and great electric guitars, this album is decent, but nothing special. The title track and lirst single, “StifFUpper Lip,” epitomizes the mes sage of the album — AC/DC refuses to change with the times and creates a classic blend of old-school rock and metal on this album. Featuring the characteristic crooning of AC/DC vo calist Brian Johnson, this album fails to cover any new ground. In fact, most of the songs start out with a lot of promise, but the chorus is revealed to be just simple repetition of the song’s title over and over again. Whatever happened to a real cho rus? Is it possible that Brian Johnson feels stupid repeating the same stuff over again and calling that a song? It is obvious that the focus ofthisalbiffli the music. And the music on this al bum is above average, making wish AC/DC could take out the voc; and leave only the excellent guitar los and pulsing bass. Alas, this is not possible, so ers are subjected to hearing uninspin lyrics. The one exception to this is ll* song called “Come and Get lt.”Tlii! song stands out on an album of soar that could have been fashionedwitlu cookie cutter. This album at leastis worth noting for its instrumental!* ments, but it will take a more hear#/ effort if AC7DC wants to become* than just old rockers who shouldl® quit years ago.
