RTUff L Die Hard Trilogy 2: Viva Las Vegas System: Playstation Genre: Action Developer: N-Space Polish up the catch phrases and shave yourself a receding hairline — it’s time to reprise Bruce Willis’ role as John Mc- Clane in Die Hard Trilogy 2: Viva Las Vegas. Now settle down again, because this game has absolutely nothing to do with the three movies other than the occasional “Yippee-ki-yay” here and there. How exactly do game developers make a sequel to a game about a movie trilogy? They don’t. Instead the game designers made up a random plot about a prison break in Las Vegas in a meager attempt to continue milk ing the Die Hard franchise for all it’s worth. The only reason this game is called a trilogy is because it uses three different modes of game play: a third person 3-D mode, an arcade shoot er and a car chase game. The problem with Die Hard Trilogy 2 is that it does not stand out in any way. The characters don’t make the game ftm for very long, and for every type of gaming mode it features there are several other video games out there that do it better. The third person 3-D mode lacks a lot of the stealth options that made games like Metal Gear Solid and Syphon Filter great. The car chase mode is hard to control, and the arcade shooter mode is lacking a light gun. Add to all this that the best graphics in the game are used to make a barely cohesive movie plot line, and Die Hard Trilogy 2 just fails to impress the experienced gamer. The bottom line is that Die Hard Trilogy 2 is a mediocre game. It’s not great, it’s not bad and it can definitely be im proved on, but if you’re a die-hard Die Hard fan, it may be worth renting.
