The Aggies end the regular season 15-4, with a conference record of 7-3. The Aggies came out firing in their dom inating victory over the Cougars, with freshman forward Heather Ragsdale offer ing up a Halloween hat trick in the game, scoring three goals against the Cougars. It was her first hat trick as an Aggie, and A&M’s second this season. “It feels good, being my first hat trick here,” Ragsdale said. “It just feels good to finally put together an all-around good game.” Ragsdale started the scoring for the Ag gies early in the game when she received a pass from sophomore midfielder Amber Childers and one-touched the ball with her left foot past UH’s diving goalkeeper and into the back of the net. Later in the the first half, Ragsdale stood ready as the Houston goalie deflected a header directly to the Aggie’s right foot. Ragsdale proceeded to shoot the ball past the keeper into the net. A&M soccer coach G. Guerrieri said the Aggies entered the game with a specific goal in mind, and he was pleased with his team’s performance. “We wanted to make a statement to our selves today that we could come out and play well from the opening whistle to the last whistle,” he said. “I think that we ac complished that.” Guerrieri said the reason the Aggies were successful against Houston was the strong play of the midfielders. “That’s always been the key to our suc cess — how well the midfield defends,” he said. “And they did good.” The midfield looked impressive against Houston by not giving the Cougars many scoring opportunities. The Aggies allowed Houston only four shots the entire game, three of which were in the first half. On the other end, the Aggies had 35 shots, 19 of which came from midfielders. Junior midfielder Alison Peters managed to score two goals by being in the right place at the right time. Early in the first half, Peters found her self in the middle of the goal box when a shot deflected off the goalie and landed at her feet, which left her an easy shot for a goal. With 58 seconds left in the game, Peters took a Ragsdale shot and was able to nudge it across the goal line into the net. “[Michelle Remington] and [Ragsdale] had some awesome play up front, and Rags shot it far post, and I was there to kick it in,” Peters said.
