The Battalion
As the four senior members of
the Texas A&M Volleyball Team
• step onto the court for their last
home match against the University
of Texas, there will not be feelings
of sadness, but rather excitement
and pride.
“The whole team’s pumped up,
especially the seniors," senior out
side hitter Celia Howes said. “The
t.u. game is always a great game for
big crowds and Aggie support.”
The enduring rivalry between
A&M and the Texas will continue
tonight at 7 in G. Rollie White Col
iseum, as then]6th-ranked Aggie
Volleyball Team battles the 10th-
ranked Longhorns in one of the
Aggies’ biggest matches of the
season.
A&M (16-4, 7-3 Big 12) is tied for
third place in the Big 12 Conference
with the University of Nebraska.
The Longhorns (15-3, 9-1 Big 12)
are tied for first place with Kansas
State University. Texas’ only Big 12
loss this year came at the hands of
Kansas State.
Texas has an impressive 53-13
lead over the Aggies in the all-time
series between the two teams.
The Longhorns defeated the Ag
gies earlier this season 8-15, 17-15,
16-14, 15-6 in Austin and snapped
A&M’s 30-game winning streak.
Senior outside hitter Summer
Strickland said the Aggies are go
ing to concentrate on their own
performances and try to reduce
unforced errors.
"Mostly what has been our
problem this year hasn’t been the
other team; It’s been us and how
we've done,” she said. "We’re go
ing to focus on ourselves and being
consistent with our play.”
A&M volleyball coach Laurie
Corbelli said the two teams are
very similar and the Aggies will
have to execute offensively and de
fensively to come out on top.
“We know that Texas is very
balanced, and they’ve got a lot of
power,” Corbelli said. “A lot of
things we did against them the last
time we played them were un
characteristic of us.”
“What’s important in this match
is sticking to our game plan,”
Howes said. “If we can perform
