In 1994 when Hickey was promoted to senior associate ath letic director and relinquished her coaching duties. She finished her coaching career at A&M with a 154-128 record in 10 seasons. Cheatham said she is now one of only a few female athletic direc tors at the Division I level and at this level, Hickey will gain the background she needs to be more influential in the lobby for women’s athletics. She said Hickey will be missed by many in the A&M Athletics De partment because she was well liked and got many people in volved in the department. “Lynn was a doer not a watch er, she got many people on board and involved in women’s athlet ics,” she said. “She was and is a great mentor, a great friend, and a wonderful person, we will miss her, but we will keep in touch.” RHA Continued from Page 1 only take drivers around the perimeter of the garage. In other business, the General Assembly discussed: • The Coca-Cola Bottling Com pany is responding to surveys con cerning the vending machine ser vice that residence halls provide. The surveys were completed by stu dents who live in the residence hall during the first few weeks of school. Steve McMahan, a Coca-Cola Bottling representative, said the company is hoping to provide more machines to residence halls, adding Aggie Bucks scanner to some existing machines presently not equipped and the replacement of older machines, with mechani cal problems, with new machines. • Dr. Susanna Finnell, the Hon ors Program executive director, pre sented the history and future of the proposed change of Clements Hall into an honors residence hall. Finnell said the change is still being considered by Residence Life and the Honors Program. Ronald Carter, manager of busi ness and facility operations for the Department of Chemistry, and Monique Stewart, staff assistant in the Department of Mathematics, were recipients of the 1999 College of Science Outstanding Staff Achievement Awards, which were given last week at their faculty and staff meeting. Carter and Stewart were nomi nated anonymously by their co workers and selected based upon their dedication, enthusiasm, ac complishments and contributions to their individual departments and the College of Science. Carter has been employed by the College of Science for 26 years and his duties are very diverse. He has been known to work on weekends and evenings dealing with fires, flooding and power outages.
