Rumours marks reopening

Rumours Deli, which has a col
orful history on the Texas A&M
campus and has served thousands
of students including Lyle Lovett,
will celebrate its grand reopening
with new renovations through
Wednesday in the MSC.
Student Body President Will
Hurd said he wanted to have a
place on campus where students
could study, socialize, stay after-
hours and be able to grab a quick
bite to eat.
“Two years ago, I was on the
Basement task force. We wanted to
make sure the students were able to
use the MSC efficiently and also to
see if the MSC was running effec
tively,” Hurd said. “Revitalizing Ru
mours was included in this discus
sion. Basically, we wanted an
on-campus, late-night, coffee-shop
place for students to study and have
food and drinks accessible to them.”
Hurd said this.is a great achieve
ment and is an additional service
the MSC offers to the A&M com
munity including the state of the
art audio-video equipment.
“The entire project, including a
42-inch plasma screen and a DVD
stereo system, cost around
$80,000,” Hurd said.

Jack Cahill, the division manag
er for Cash Operations, said prices
will be lower than competing stu
dent hang-outs.
"We make sure that we are be
low the prices of Starbucks, Sweet
Eugene’s and other coffee shops.
We want to be the cheapest place
in town.”
Pat Hurst, Rumours Deli and
Hullaballoo manager, said he en
courages students and groups to
come in and meet in the evenings
to socialize and study.
