“It is not a glamorous job,
and you don’t do it for the
pay,” she said. “However, my
job is very exciting because I
am in an environment where
we are educating the future
leaders of tomorrow. “
She said that students who
want to prosper in the field
need to check and re-check in
formation.
Carroll, said in 10 years her
major goal is to be happy —
she said her job is not every
thing.
“I want to be able to say at
the end of my day that I did OK,
and that I show love in every
thing I do,’* Carroll said.

“They pull the nose up and try to
turn the plane, and that will cause an
even more violent sensation in the pi
lot,” he said. “So, the tendency would
be to return to what didn’t feel as
bad.”
Lessard said returning the plane to
deep descent will cause the plane to go
in to what is called a graveyard spiral.
“It is called a graveyard spiral for a
very good reason — a lot of pilots
don’t get out of it alive,” Lessard said.
“Eventually, the plane will be straight
down and traveling too fast for a pilot
to fix.”
To counteract this problem, a new
instrument has been developed called
the Advanced Spatial Disorientation
Demonstrator (ASDD).
Pilots work with this instrument to
help simulate environments which
would create conditions similar to that
which would cause spatial disorienta
tion.
Currently, there are only three AS-
DDs worldwide, including one in the
United States at Brooks Air Force Base
in San Antonio.

“This is a guy who we saw with

he’s won cycling's greatest race,"
Haussmann said.
He won in Paris by 7 minutes, 37

“Sweet. It’s a done deal,” Hauss

“Not only is he a hometown
