PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) — A “Jenny Jones Show"
guest, who claimed he was so humiliated when a
gay man professed his love for him that he was dri
ven to kill, had sex with the victim before the shoot
ing, a jury was told Wednesday.
The victim, Scott Amedure, told two people that
he slept with Jonathan Schmitz after the taping, ac
cording to testimony.
Amedure’s family is suing the show and its dis
tributor, Warner Bros., for $50 million, contending
a mentally ill Schmitz was lured onto the show be
lieving he would meet a woman, and became en
raged when his ‘‘secret admirer" turned out to be
Amedure.
Three days after the taping, Schmitz — who has
said he is heterosexual — killed Amedure with a
shotgun.
Schmitz was found guilty of murder in 1996, but
his conviction was thrown out on appeal. His retri
al is set for Aug. 19.
Lawyers for the “Jenny Jones Show” say Schmitz
was told his secret admirer could be a man or
woman.
They contend the show is nottobir

the recording industry of Internet
