It has been an impressive season
for Big 12 tennis, with seven of the
conference’s nine men’s teams and
eight of the 12 women’s teams
holding top-75 rankings heading
into the Big 12 Tennis
Championships. Following are
breakdowns of the 21 teams com
peting and their ranked singles and
doubles competitors:
Men's Field

1. University of Texas (20-4, 8-0)
The seventh-ranked Longhorns
clinched their third consecutive Big
12 regular-season championship in
Austin Saturday with a 6-1 victory
over Nebraska. Texas features three
top-70 singles players — Jack
Brasington (No. 17), Brandon
Hawk (No. 36) and Paul Martin
(No. 68). In doubles play, Martin
and Gwaneal Guiet are ranked No.
17, and Hawk and Nick Crowell are
No. 41. UT will play the winner of
the Colorado/Oklahoma State
match Friday at noon.
2. Baylor University (20-2, 7-1)
The ninth-ranked Bears’ year
has seen them climb as high as No.
3. Johann Jooste (No. 26), Pawel
Gajdzik (No.31) and David Hodge
(No. 96) lead Baylor in singles play.
In doubles, Hodge and Jooste are
No. 26, and Gajdzik and Joey
Michalsky rank 50th. The Bears will
take on Oklahoma Friday at 7 p.m.
