Rice University and the University of Houston do not. The men finished second to fifth-ranked University of Texas and soundly defeated 17th-ranked Houston and unranked Rice. The women’s meet produced an identical order of finish, with No. 2 Texas win ning the team title over A&M, Houston and Rice. The men led off the competition with sopho more Brian Oubre and junior Jim Pat Darcey finishing second and third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with times of 9 minutes, 50 sec onds and 10:05, respectively. In the 400-meter dash, junior Johan Lan- nefors took second at 47.21 seconds, and senior Derrick Woods took third with a time of 48.33, CLARIETT while seniors Billy Fobbs and Toya Jones 1-3 in the 100-meter dash with times of and 10.73. Juniors Tfavis McAshan and Keith Beni brought the Aggies another second-third fin in the 400-meter hurdles after posting times 50.61 and 52.72, respectively. A&M has had good results as well in its last few tournaments, finishing fourth at the GTE ‘Mo’ Morial and fifth at the LSU/Fair- wood Invitational. The teams will play 18 holes each day Monday through Wednesday for a total of 54 holes on the par-72, 6,309-yard layout at Boulder Country Club. The Aggies will need a strong finish to qualify for the NCAA West Regional May 6-8 at Pine Forest Country Club in Houston. Whether the team qualifies or not, A&M will host the event.
