T he usual tranquility of the
Flag Room will be overrun
today by the sounds of bid
ding and offers at MSC Hospitali
ty’s Lost and Found Auction as
Hospitality members sell the hun
dreds of items left unclaimed in
the MSC and campus buses to the
highest bidder.
Tables will be set up to display
the items, waiting for passers-by
to notice them.
Tae Park, a member of MSC
Hospitality and a sophomore me
chanical engineering major, said
there are expectations for a high
turnout to the event.
“Last semester the turnout was
great,” he said. “There are boxes
and boxes of items — two truck-
loads.”
In addition, there are
donations from local
businesses.
Park said the proba
bility of finding a bar
gain is high, with some
of the bidding starting
at $1.
“Prices start low and
go up depending on who
wants it," he said. “It almost
never exceeds $10.”
Park said the largest amount
he recalls paying for an auctioned
item was higher than $20.
The proceeds from the auction
go to Hospitality committee to
fund various community service
projects throughout the year.
