Everywhere We Co
Kenny Chesney

Entertainment
Since his debut on the country
music scene five albums ago, Ken
ny Chesney has continually pro
duced records with an ability to
sell. While some artists in country
music streak across the charts and
fade away, Chesney has built his
success one step, one hit and one
gold record at a time.
His latest release. Everywhere
We Go, is a testament to this pro
gression in his career. With 11 well-
written and well-performed songs,
Everywhere We Go was purposeful
ly produced without an encom
passing theme to tie the tracks to
gether. Thanks to the effort, the
listener is exposed to 11 completely
different and independent experi
ences.
“Baptism” is perhaps the al
bum’s strongest effort, combining
Chesney’s vocal talent with that of
country music icon Randy TYavis in
a song about the mental and spiri
tual transformation of man during
his baptism.The title track, “Every
where We Go,” is one of the best
songs on the album, musically
speaking. The lyrics are simple and
the subject is nothing new, but the
delivery more than makes up for
mediocre writing.
Everywhere We Go follows the
pattern Chesney has set with his
albums. Each new release is
stronger than the one before and
things fall apart
The Roots
CD Courtesy of MCA
Records
When The Roots released their
first album, Organix. in 1993, the
group became immediately recog
nizable by their use of live instru
mentation and jazz stylings. The
Roots carried the torch in a time
when the hip-hop genre's musical
integrity was taking a noticeable
downward slide. At the same time
other rappers were bragging about
how much money they could
make, The Roots continued down
the hip-hop path to righteousness,
making outstanding records along
the way.
With the release of things fall
apart, the group’s fourth album.
The Roots have ventured into the
age of technology, experimenting
with samples and loops. Despite
what could constitute a purist fall
from grace, The Roots remain clos
er to the heart and soul of hip-hop
than 1,000 Puff Daddies.
Highlights of things fall apart in

tion with Erykah Badu and an in
